In early February, in a cold but dry Trafalgar Square in London, the team held their 1999 launch with plans to be the first British based team in ten years to ride on the continent with the best teams in the world.

In a sponsorship deal worth £500,000, in the first year, the long term aim for the team is to ride the Tour de France within three years and be the first British team ever to win the yellow jersey.

With new team manager Sean Yates, with his wealth of experiance in the continental peleton, who will be be able to guide his riders in the right direction, the team has every chance to acheive it's long term goals with the aim of developing the younger riders over the next few years.

Yates has picked probably the best riders in Britain and a few tough Aussie's to help the team's UCI division 2 status and getting into races. For now the team have the ability to dominate at home and holding it's own on the continent, with the main aim for this year a stage win and a top five place overall in the Prutour of Britain.

With the main sponsor, Linda McCartney Vegetarian Foods, the entire squad are now vegetarians, in which Sir Paul McCartney dubbed 'The Clean Machine'.
